Fly Fishing on the Bitterroot!

It’s an early morning out on the Bitterroot…Just you and nature!   You start out early hiking to that favorite spot in the stream that you spotted earlier in the week…There are so many good places to try to fish but the deep hole in these rocks is conducive to good trout fishing.   You wade out knee deep in the crisp, cool water and instantly feel  the relaxation rush over  your  entire body…Just you and the peaceful surroundings…You dig around in your fly box for the wooly bugger you tied late last night…It should do the trick if the fish are biting…
…I’m not a fly fisherman but I’m married to one.   I watch and observe the passion and know that it’s all about the sport.   He catches and releases and seldom brings one home to eat…His respect for the fish and for nature is a big part of it all.  As a nature lover myself, I can totally relate…There is nothing like the sound of the rushing water, the view of the sun glistening off of the stream and the assortment of colorful rocks just beneath the surface…

…The 1992 movie “A River Runs Through It” directed by Robert Redford and starring Brad Pitt and Tom Skerritt was actually filmed out in the Bitterroot…It's about fly fishing...and family!
